Short, clear definitions of the key terms you will meet in funding calls and documentation.

Grant
Non-repayable financial support awarded for a specific purpose, such as an investment or research work.
Budget allocation
The total pool of funds set aside for a given funding call (competition).
Own contribution
The part of project costs covered by the beneficiary, on top of the grant.
De minimis aid
State aid capped in value over a set period, with simplified rules.
R&D
Industrial research and development work leading to new products, services or technologies.
Dual-use
Products and technologies with both civilian and military applications.
Aid intensity
The maximum percentage of eligible costs that a grant can cover.
Eligible costs
Expenses that, under the programme rules, can be covered by the grant.
Beneficiary
The entity that receives funding and carries out the project.
Eligibility
Meeting the conditions under which an entity or cost can receive support.
